Suchitoto

This is a stitched panorama of the view from my hotel in Suchitoto... the honour guard for the first visit to Suchitoto by the new left-wing president, Mauricio Funes It was really hot, I'm impressed that they stood in line for a couple of hours Suchi has narrow, cobblestone streets
Archbishop Romero was assassinated in San Salvador - the writing reads: Las estructuras de injusticia social, son las que han dado muerte lenta a nuestros pobres. Most of the houses have this painted on the wall: En esta casa queremos una vida libre de violencia hacia las mujeres Iglesia Santa Lucia from the parque central and detail of the front
bright primary colours on many of the doorways Cascada Los Tercios - interesting hexagonal rock formation. The dog belongs to my hotel, only he follows and guards the foreigners Another painted doorway The night before Independence Day, and different schools dressed up to represent various countries. Then there were dancing displays in the parque
And lots of stalls selling local food On Independence Day itself, many schools paraded, often with a band but more usually with cheerleaders - these were the youngest It was about 35 degrees c so some of them looked like they were wilting
