Mayan Architecture

Most of the Mayan Ruins are limestone, and iguanas are perfectly camouflaged in that environment. Another iguana Mayan ruins at Tulum, beautifully located on the seafront... ...and very convenient for the tour buses from Playa... ...although rather a lot of the groups head straight for the beach.
El Castillo at Chichen Itza, which made the new Seven Wonders of the World list Not many people around when it opened, but here's one visitor, to give a sense of scale to the building Lots of carvings and by 11 o'clock, lots of people as well You're no longer allowed to climb most of the buildings...
This is Coba, between Tulum and Valladolid And this is a front view of Uxmal ...from the side Detail of carvings ...from the back
More carvings View through the archway and another archway Uxmal towers over the jungle
