Along the Silk Road

The Prayer Wheel circuit around Laburang Monastery in Xiahe is about 3 km. There are 1174 prayer wheels! It's a sculpture of Sakyamuni - The Buddha ... but what is it made of? This is a detail from another sculpture. It's made of Yak Butter!! Tarzang Lake, near Xiahe. Tian Chi, near Xunhua. It means, ironically, Heaven Lake.
I stayed the night. This is 6.30 in the morning - so peaceful. Prayer Flags over Tarzang Lake. The road up to Heaven Lake. I spenta day with a Chinese Tour Group. We saw 3 sights, and went shopping 5 times! Qinghai Lake, very saline, very blue.
